Dear CO2T Customer,
CO2T, LLC has recently come to learn through its supplier that certain biochar products that it previously sold may contain elevated arsenic levels. Upon notification by its supplier of these higher than anticipated arsenic levels, CO2T ceased all distribution of biochar sourced through this supplier and has begun an independent analysis and investigation into certain biochar products it sold or supplied.
Even though CO2T has temporarily ceased distribution of biochar, the purpose of this letter is to notify you of this ongoing investigation and of appropriate actions to take with the CO2T-supplied biochar in your possession.
For any biochar still in your possession that has not been integrated into soil, fertilizer, or other agricultural media and is still capable of being isolated, CO2T requests that you segregate and preserve that biochar separate from any other material. Additionally, CO2T requests that you refrain from using, selling, transferring, or disposing of any biochar in your possession that you previously purchased from CO2T.
For any biochar that has been integrated into soil, fertilizer, or other agricultural supplies and is no longer capable of being isolated, out of an abundance of caution, CO2T recommends avoiding human consumption of any agricultural product which was grown using the biochar as a soil amendment. Additionally, CO2T recommends refraining from attempting to remove or isolate biochar already integrated into soil or other growing media. Please preserve any integrated biochar in your possession for potential future investigation.
For any biochar previously purchased or obtained from CO2T that is no longer in your possession, please provide us with the name and contact information for any person or business to whom you supplied that biochar or biochar-grown products.
Please note this notice is provided merely as a precautionary measure while further investigation into the reported elevated arsenic levels continues. CO2T fully intends to cooperate with Oregon regulatory and administrative agencies if requested or required to do so.
